Bongikile Crèche

The Bongekile Crèche is situated in Richmond Kwa-Zulu Natal. Approximately a 1 hour drive from Durban, the crèche looks after 30-60 children on a daily basis. With minimal funding the crèche relies heavily on donations and support to teach, feed and develop the children, many of whom have been orphaned by HIV AIDS. The dedicated staff does their best each day, to make a difference.

Within the 2007 report, Training Leadership Consulting, in partnership with Kingfisher and Save the Children identified that the Bongekile Crèche was in need of a kitchen, as the food for the children was prepared over an open flame in the middle of the play ground. In addition, there was no running water, and staff members had to walk a good 20 minutes to collect water from a nearby river.

In response to this 2008, has seen the funds raised to build a small kitchen as well as to erect a JoJo tank to collect rain water. We are pleased to announce the successful completion of the project, much to the delight and appreciation of the staff and children of the Bongekile Crèche.
