OVERVIEW

One-on-one leadership coaching is a focussed and customised method of personal development aimed at enhancing the personal effectiveness of leaders within the context of the organisation they operate in.

COACHING INCLUDES

BUILDING AWARENESS

This phase involves gathering information about the leader through all or some of the following methods:

  • Assessments to establish strengths and challenges associated with the leader’s personal style
  • Life path analysis to establish leader’s typical patterns and scripts
  • 360 degree feedback from colleagues, managers and subordinates

SETTING DEVELOPMENTAL GOALS

Based on the above information the initial sessions will focus on gaining the leader’s commitment to personal goals:

  • Delivering the feedback in a safe space so that it is positively received
  • Defining the desired outcome of the coaching process
  • Establishing and clarifying  developmental goals

DEVELOPING POTENTIAL

Through a variety of coaching techniques the coaching sessions will enable the leader to:

  • Identify strategies to address developmental goals – building on strengths and changing ineffective behaviours
  • Experiment and reflect on outcomes of new behaviours with the coach
  • Develop a plan of action to sustain positive changes

EVALUATING PROGRESS

 

At the end of the contracted coaching period, the coach and the leader will evaluate progress jointly, through some or all of these methods:

  • Self-reflection and anecdotal feedback
  • Formal 360 degree interviews

DURATION

The coaching process typically takes place over a period of 4-6 months
