Design For Six Sigma uses a slightly different methodology to pure Six Sigma, namely Define, Measure, Analyse, Design and Verify (DMADV instead of DMAIC). Where Six Sigma is used for reducing defects in existing process, DFSS is used to design new processes in the Six Sigma way, so that they start with few defects.
